Great Beginnings for Black Babies, Inc. is committed to addressing the inequitable rate of Black maternal and infant mortality, by providing comprehensive support through our programs and initiatives. Our nonprofit is dedicated to the healthy growth and development of the fetus, babies, children, youth, families, underserved communities, and women of color, particularly Black women.
We believe in equal rights to life. Navigating the healthcare system can be intimidating. Positive pregnancy outcomes rely on quality medical care for the mother before, during, and after birth. We collaborate with community organizations, policymakers, and healthcare professionals to raise awareness, foster healthy outcomes, and advocate for access to quality healthcare.
Together, with the support of our dedicated board, volunteers, supporters and partners, we are determined to significantly reduce the Black maternal and infant mortality rates. Let’s give these babies a great beginning.
Changes are urgently needed ~ working together can help. Eighty percent of maternal deaths are preventable - yet in the USA, the maternal health crisis has only worsened in recent years. Even an one of the wealthiest countires on the planet, the United States ranks 55th in the world for maternal mortality, according ato a 2020 WHO report - the worst of any developed nation.
